Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 8 cups cubed seedless watermelon, chilled
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from about 6–8 lemons)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
For Serving and Garnish
- Ice cubes, for serving
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)
- Watermelon wedges, for garnish (optional)
- Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)
- Optional: 1/4 cup simple syrup (if you prefer a sweeter lemonade)
Instructions
- Prepare Watermelon Puree: Cube the chilled seedless watermelon and blend in batches until smooth. For the smoothest texture, strain the puree through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any pulp or seeds. Chill the puree in the refrigerator while preparing other ingredients.
- Extract Lemon Juice: Roll the lemons to release their juices before cutting. Juice the lemons, straining through a sieve to remove seeds and pulp, and measure out 1 cup of fresh lemon juice.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large pitcher, combine the chilled watermelon puree, fresh lemon juice, cold water, and granulated sugar. Stir vigorously until all the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Adjust Sweetness: Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness as desired by adding more sugar or lemon juice. If using, gradually add simple syrup starting with 1/4 cup and adjust to your preference.
- Chill the Lemonade: Place the pitcher in the refrigerator and chill the watermelon lemonade for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld and serve it cold.
- Serve and Garnish: Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled watermelon lemonade over the ice. Garnish with lemon slices, watermelon wedges, and fresh mint sprigs as desired. Serve immediately for a refreshing summer experience.
Notes
- For a smoother drink, straining the watermelon puree is recommended but optional.
- Adjust sugar and lemon juice to taste depending on the sweetness of the watermelon and personal preference.
- Simple syrup can replace granulated sugar for quicker dissolution.
- Keep the lemonade chilled until serving to maintain its refreshing quality.
- Garnishes are optional but add a beautiful presentation and extra aroma.
